Tips to level off your English

A lot of students ask me about ways to level off their English. Well, this is not an easy task, but you can add these ideas to your formal studies:
- be surrounded by English - watch movies, listen to music, surf the Internet...
- find an e-pal - there are some sites where you can find English students willing to practice their English, but they´re students, too, right!? Well, do you know www.facebook.com? It´s pretty similar to Orkut, but widespread in the United States. Subscribe and make friends! Then add them to your msn or skype, and practice your English!
- listen to yourself - you have, on your computer, a tool called Voice Recorder (Gravador de Som, in Portuguese). Go to Start, Programs, Accessories and there you have it. Take the dialogues from your Workbook (or Sudent´s Book) and record it. Then listen to yourself. If you have the CD, listen to it right after your recording. Delete it if you aren´t satisfied, and do it over again.
- read - read books, magazines, articles, anything you may find interesting. You´ll learn a lot of vocabulary by doing this...
And finally...
- enjoy it! There´s no sense in doing something you don´t like....
Hope these tips are useful to you!
